BTS was honored with an award at the 2019 American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday evening.
The AMAs announced on Twitter on the 24th (local time) that BTS had won the award for Favorite Duo or Group Pop/Rock, beating out the Jonas Brothers and Panic! at the Disco for the honor.
The American Music Awards highlights the most influential and iconic musical acts of the moment. Including the Billboard Music Awards and the Grammy Awards, the AMAs are considered to be one of the “big three” music awards shows in the US. BTS won the AMA for Favorite Social Artist last year, making this the second year in a row that the K-pop super group took home an AMA.
The septet, who were not able to attend the awards show which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, gave their acceptance speech via video. RM had the following message for the group’s fans: “BTS has been a group for 6 and a half years, and throughout those years, so many of our dreams have somehow manifested into reality. And ARMY, you guys are the ones who made all this possible, and we really couldn’t have done it without your love and support from all over the world. We’ll try our best to live up to it to strive high and work hard to return your love back to you.”
